Why You Should Never Take Clomid to Get Pregnant

When faced with infertility, many women often resort to the fertility drug Clomid to get pregnant. If you are one of those women, please keep in mind the following side effects of Clomid before you start to take it.

What Is Clomid?

Clomid is the brand name for the fertility drug clomiphene citrate. It works by stimulating the ovaries and is one of the most popular fertility drugs on the market as it is relatively inexpensive, easy to take and can be quite effective in stimulating the ovaries.

Clomid has been specifically designed for women with ovulation problems. Those suffering from unexplained infertility, block fallopian tubes, or male infertility problems will not benefit from this drug at all.

How is Clomid Taken?

The most common dosage of Clomid is 50 mg, taken for 5 consecutive days on the third and seventh day of your or fifth and ninth days of your cycle. With day one of your cycle being the day that you start your period and aren't just spotting.

If you still arent't pregnant after that, the doctor may increase your dosage accordingly. Ironically, any dosage over 150 mg will cause infertility.

Clomid Side Effects

Common side effects of clomid include enlarged ovaries, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, breast discomfort, vision problems, hot flashes, mood swings and insomnia just to name a few. A decrease in cervical mucus is also a side effect of Clomid. Ironically, an increase in cervical mucus is what many women need as cervical mucus helps sperm to swim towards the egg.

Twins are also a common side effect of the fertility drug Clomid.

More serious side effects of Clomid include ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), cysts and permanent vision problems.

Seek immediate medical attention if you develop any of the following side effects: severe pain/swelling in the lower abdomen (pelvic) area, sudden/rapid weight gain, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, shortness of breath, change in the amount of urine, pain/redness/swelling of the legs, chest pain, or a fast/irregular heartbeat.

How To Get Pregnant Naturally

Although you may think that taking a drug for infertility is your best bet, it's not. You can get pregnant quickly and easily through natural fertility methods including taking natural fertility supplements, eating a fertility diet, exercise, doing a full body detoxification, and more.

I myself was able to get pregnant naturally and I have since coached hundreds of couples on how to get pregnant naturally all without the use of Clomid or invasive procedures like In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
