What is food poisoning?
Food poisoning is an acute illness that is caused by eating contaminated or poisonous food and toxins produced by harmful bacteria. The toxins cause abdominal pain (cramps) and vomiting and also cause the small intestine to secrete large amounts of water that leads to diarrhea. The symptoms of food poisoning usually last less than 24 hours.
Be careful on food habits during summer. A small mistake can also put you in trouble. From a survey it has been acknowledge that around 81 million people are effected from food poisoning among them 9000 people die.
Outrageous thing is this, that in this death rate, it is customarily the children who become the prey from food poisoning. To stay away from this, it is necessary to be careful about few things, like the food should be cooked properly and it should be refrigerated.
What should be done and what should not be done:
During summer for the health of children not only the food should be cooked properly, but should be refrigerated also. Avoid eating poultry products, meat, fish and egg during these days.
Use the utensils, fruits and vegetable after washing them carefully. Reduce the consumption of dairy products and fruit juice. Don't keep the food open in the room and the temperature of the refrigerator should be 40 degree F. Avoid eating packaged food.
Bacteria Are Dangerous
Bacteria and virus can be found not only on dairy and poultry products but on food products also. Its beginning symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea, pain in stomach and high fever. After knowing about the infection person becomes fit after immediate treatment. If the infection is not known immediately than kidney can be damaged or the person can die also.
Problem Due To Increasing Temperature
There are mainly two reason of an increase in food poisoning during summers. Firstly if the temperature during the summer and moisture is increasing than food is deteriorated soon and secondly the bacteria's who spread poisoning increases with fast speed. 40 and 60 degree Celsius temperature is sufficient for there increase.
