Gallbladder Symptoms With Normal Tests

The reason for a healthy person to rush into a doctor's office or to a hospital will frequently be pain. And if the pain strikes below your ribs, on the right side, there is a huge probability that it is a gallbladder issue.

Gallbladder causes the type of pain that is usually in the right upper quadrant (RUQ). It is also accompanied with nausea and vomiting. Gallbladder pain occurs typically after fatty or large meals. The symptoms also include sense of fullness, gas, flatulence, diarrhea or loose stools, constipation, light-colored stools, loss of appetite, a bitter taste after meals and pain that radiates to the right shoulder blades.

After you rush to your doctor, he or she will often run blood tests, and take other actions to see what is wrong with you. It would be probably an ultrasound test, which, in many kids and young adults, does not show bile stones or gallbladder inflammations. This disorder is called biliary dyskinesia; the condition when gallbladder symptoms occur with normal tests.

If ultrasound results are negative, there will be another imaging testing, in order to measure gallbladder function; this procedure is called a cholecystokinin cholescintigraphy. It is a test that shows gallbladder emptying after stimulation. If the test shows that your gallbladder ejection fraction has a value less than 40%, commonly it means a "death sentence" for your gallbladder. And by that I mean that patients with an abnormal gallbladder ejection fraction usually undergo gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy).

The same as in law practice, before giving the verdict of a "death sentence", it is necessary for the doctors and patients to check all circumstances that affect the functions of the gallbladder. This is due to the fact that the organ itself could be innocent, and many other factors may badly interact or even change its function.

At first, the medical literature discusses the possibilities for the false-positive results of the tests. An abnormally low gallbladder ejection fraction test is not 100% specific. For example, numerous other disorders have been associated with low gallbladder ejection, and various therapeutic drugs can cause poor gallbladder contraction.

Second, gallbladder can be lazy, and that would cause it not to contract the way it is supposed to, due to the luck of training. The recent health propaganda scares people and tells us not to eat fat and oily products. No fat, no cholesterol diet makes people think that they are doing something good for their bodies. However, eggs, avocado, sour cream, olive and coconut oils are natural stimulants of the gallbladder contractions. Without these products, gallbladder is getting sluggish, and gallbladder stones occur.

Third, the hidden and obvious inflammations of the gallbladder wall prevent its proper contraction and emptying. Parasites, which reside in the gallbladder and bile ducts, can also cause inflammation and upper right quadrant pains with nausea and dyspepsia. Even though, it may sound unbelievable it is true.

Giardia intestinalis (also known as G. Lamblia and G. Duodenalis) is the most common intestinal parasite identified by public health laboratories in the United States. The total number of reported cases of giardiasis is almost 20,000 for 2007. And this is only the tip of the iceberg. Many cases are overlooked in the everyday practice because people reject the idea about having parasites. Biliary liver flukes also cause non-specific symptoms such as right upper quadrant stomach pain, flatulence, and fatigue.

Fourth and virtually unknown factor that can cause pain in the right upper quadrant is acidic bile. In my articles and in my book, I back this idea up with scientific research and clinical experience. Liver is an alkaline gland that produces alkaline bile. Whole body acidity leads to biochemical changes in the bile causing acidic bile. In its turn, this can cause precipitation of the extremely aggressive bile acids. Bile acids irritate gallbladder, bile ducts, sphincter of Oddy, duodenum walls; they generate spasmodic contractions, inflammation, ulcers. Spasms of the sphincter of Oddy lead to high pressure in the gallbladder, bile and pancreatic ducts, which cause pains, nausea, vomiting and eventually inflammation of the gallbladder and pancreas.

For normal digestion, alkaline environment is required in the duodenum. In the case of the whole body acidity, the pancreatic enzymes don't work. Without proper actions of bile and pancreatic enzymes, the normal digestion is impossible. Gas, bloating, spasms, abdominal pain, reflux, nausea, vomiting, low appetite, diarrhea, constipation are all symptoms of indigestion. Gallbladder is only one of many digestive organs, which are involved in poor digestion due to the whole body acidity.

Similar to what an attorney does, I will try to defend your gallbladder. I think that removing the gallbladder without stones and severe inflammation, especially in children and young adults, is a wrong choice. There is a way to give the gallbladder an opportunity to improve its function.

Diet is the oldest medicine in the world. Alkaline, separate, natural diet is beneficial. Food like red meat, white flour, rice, sodas, sugars, milk, spices need to be avoided. Overeating and dieting, harsh liver flashes may even make things worse. The best way is to find knowledgeable, licensed medical professional that can supervise the healing program. In case of pain, acupuncture, gentle abdominal massage, chiropractic manipulations, nutritional supplements, herbs and drinking Karlovy Vary healing mineral water can be beneficial.

We cannot hope for positive changes in our bodies when they are acidic. Normally, there are only three natural ways to restore normal, slightly alkaline balance. First is the alkaline diet that is full of the vegetables, vegetable blends, juices, and soups. Second is drinking Karlovy Vary healing mineral water that has minerals, bicarbonates and trace elements, which are the parts of the alkaline bile and pancreatic juice. This water has been used for hundreds of years by European doctors in the healing processes of a gallbladder, liver and pancreatic disorders. Karlovy Vary healing mineral water promotes the production of alkaline, liquid bile creates mild contractions of the gallbladder and at the same time opens sphincter of Oddi. Last, but not least is taking mineral supplements such as cellular magnesium-potassium that help neutralize acidity, reduce spasms, and promote normal gallbladder contractions

Gallbladder is not one of the minor or insignificant organs in our body's complicated system. Yes, we can live without it, but our digestion will not be normal. Even brilliant performance and fast recovery after surgery do not give 100% warranty that pain will disappear. Unfortunately, some people whose gallbladder has been removed continue to have severe pain, burning and unpleasant symptoms of indigestion. This condition is called the post-cholecystectomy syndrome (PCS).

PCS usually consists of abdominal pain or colic, dyspepsia, constipation or diarrhea, nausea, bloating, fatty food intolerance. According to WebMD, about 10-to-15 percent of people after gallbladder removal are affected by post cholecystectomy syndrome. So, to give gallbladder a chance to restore its function, especially if there are no severe inflammation or gallbladder stones, maybe the sensible decision.
