Imitrex And Migraine Hadaches-Use And Side Effects

How To Use Imitrex

A consultation with your doctor is essential. Use Imitrex exactly as prescribed. Take a tablet as soon as you feel a migraine coming on or after the migraine has started. There is no point in taking Imitrex before a headache to ward it off as it does not work this way.

Take one complete tablet with a full glass of water. Do not take another Imitrex until at least 2 hours has elapsed even if the headache remains or goes then comes back again. Presently the guidelines are that you must not take more than 200mg in any one day. If the headache remains then see your doctor before taking any more Imitrex.

Imitrex Nasal Spray

The spray has complete instructions on usage but if in any doubt check with your doctor or pharmacist for clarification. Blow your nose initially to clear the nasal passages then do not sneeze or blow your nose directly after applying the Imitrex spray.

Should the headache remain after using the spray seek medical advice before using it a second time. If the headache goes away then returns make sure that at least 2 hours have passed between applications. 40mg of Imitrex is the limit in 24 hours.

If you are getting more than 4 headaches every month it would be wise to speak with your doctor. It is a complicated drug with many side effects and should not be used with many conditions so make sure that Imitrex is right for you.
