Why is My Poop Green? The Shocking Answer

It is quite normal to have green poop, particularly in babies but occasionally adults can experience this as well. Some people may take this as a symptom of ill health, however unless this is clearly the case, there generally is no cause to worry. There are many causes for this change in the color of poop and until proven otherwise it is not always serious.

A very common reason is because of our diet. If we have a diet that is chlorophyll rich or if you eat too many green leafy vegetables your poop may be green. If you eat vegetables like spinach, broccoli and food items that are rich in iron content green feces may result as well.

Presence of certain food colors in processed foods like ice-creams, cold drinks etc may cause the poop to be green. Food items rich in iron content may also cause green poop. Bile produced by the small intestine may also result in green poop. Consult a nutritionist or a dietitian regarding your diet and this may help you in dealing with the problem.

The general causes of green poop may be harmless and won't last for a long time, but if the green poop also has some of these symptoms you may have a reason to panic. If the green movement is accompanied by pain in the stomach, Diarrhea, loss or gain of weight, digestive disorders, you may have to see a doctor. Occasionally change of poop color could be due to deposits of feces or undigested food in the colon. This state can not just build body toxins but also cause irritation in the colon. This situation can be resolved by washing of the colon with the use of enema. After a colon cleanse or detoxification you will experience better health.
