The Common Salmonella Enteritidis Symptoms

Salmonella is the name for more than 2,500 types of bacteria. By its distinct protein coating, every type is uniquely and microscopically identifiable. Salmonella Enteritidis is a form of food poisoning. This poisoning is caused by a bacterium which you can usually see in raw eggs. The CDCP (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) stated that the bacterium enters the ovary of the hen and affects the eggs by contaminating them even before the formation of the shell.

Many symptoms occur when people acquire this illness

Fever - Fever comes whenever a person is infected. When this happens while vomiting and diarrhea, you should be going to the doctor because there is a huge possibility that you might have Salmonella.

Abdominal Pain - People with Enteritidis may feel contraction of the abdomen. It is said to be really painful and it comes with diarrhea.

Vomiting - Vomiting and diarrhea is the most common symptoms when you have this infection.

The worst case scenario is if the infection goes inside your system such as spreading in the blood stream. This is when it is at its worst. When this happens, it means it is already life threatening. The symptoms are different when the infection is in the system, depending on which areas of the body the bacterium spreads.

The symptoms usually start after 12 hours up to 3 days after the intake of the contaminated food or drinks that is made with egg. The symptoms usually last at about seven days or less. Some people, mostly who are living in a healthy lifestyle, only suffer from the infection in a couple of days even without being treated and not taking any therapy or antibiotics. People that are systematically infected may experience and suffer much longer and more fatal than the average. If this happens a person should see a doctor as soon as possible to explore options on how to treat it.

If you are already infected by the virus, and you can still move to treat your own, you should first take anti-diarrheal drugs such as Loperamide. This drug is a synthetic compound that delays the action of stool in your large intestine. This is essential so that stool will harden and less fluid is lost. When the stool is forced to move slowly through the large intestine, water is going to be absorbed into the walls of your intestine.

You may get those medicines even at local drug stores. Medicines such as Imodium or Pepto can be a good choice. Of course it is always wise to seek professional help before things get out of control. Salmonella infection should not be ignored since this can cause dehydration that will eventually to premature death.
