Treating Crohn's Disease With Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and More

Crohn's disease can be treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is about having the patient lie down inside an airtight hyperbaric chamber and breathing in 100% pure oxygen. This type of procedure is very safe and requires no surgery. This type of procedure is U.S. FDA approved and is already known to treat other illnesses such as diabetes, ADD/ADHD, stroke, head injuries, memory loss, wounds, autism and insomnia.

People who are interested about this type of procedure can avail of it by renting or buying their personal hyperbaric chambers. Chambers are sold at two sizes, the single bag and the double bag. The single bag only occupies one person at a time and can be operated solo. While the double bag will need two people to be operated and can occupy two people.

Crohn's disease can also be treated with drug therapy. Drug therapy can be the intake of anti-inflammation drugs. In this procedure, patients are treated with drugs that contain Mesalamine which is a substance that controls inflammation. Most commonly used drug is named Sulfasalazine. Other mesalamine drugs are Asacol, Dipentum and Pentasa. Known side effects of these drugs are vomiting, heartburn, diarrhea and headaches.

Drug therapy can also be through the use immune system suppressors. This is a drug therapy that can suppress the immune system by blocking the immune reaction that contributes to inflammation. The commonly prescribed drug for this is is 6-Mercaptopurine or the related drug Azathioprine. This drug therapy also has side effects such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Now, who said that Crohn's disease can't be treated was definitely wrong since patients have a lot of options to choose from. Have a nice day!
